Glasgow activities are starting!
By Sarah Bell
‘Sensing Climate’ is coming to Glasgow in 2025!
We are exploring how to ensure that responses to climate change help to build fairer communities that take into account the priorities of people who are disabled, d/Deaf, neurodivergent and people with long-term health conditions.
‘Lunch and chat’ events
With Glasgow Disability Alliance, we are organising three ‘lunch and chat’ events in May and June in Central Glasgow to say hello and introduce the project for anyone who would like to hear more.
Our first lunch and chat will be on Friday 16th May, from 10am to 1.30pm. We’ll be thinking about nature and disability. Where and how do we find comfort and peace in and with nature? What supports this or makes it more difficult?
Our second lunch and chat will be on Wednesday 28th May, from 11.30am to 3pm. We’ll be focusing on our homes and communities. What helps us to feel comfortable and safe where we live, especially when it’s cold, wet or very hot?
Our third lunch and chat will be on Wednesday 11th June, from 11.30am to 3pm. In this session, we’ll be thinking about what we need to feel supported during heat waves, floods and storms. What would be in our emergency toolkits? What do we want the emergency services to know about our needs?
Lunch will be provided. We’ll be in touch with everyone that signs up to check dietary needs and access adjustments in advance.
Expenses will be paid.
If you live in Glasgow and you’re disabled, d/Deaf or neurodivergent, or someone with lived experience of a long-term health condition, we would love to meet you.

Other opportunities to take part
There are lots of other ways of taking part in the project too.
You could share your ideas and experiences in:
An interview with Sarah, which may be in person or online.
One or more creative writing workshops with Tanvi and Sarah. Some of these will be online (from July to September) and one will be in person (in October). You can choose which to come along to.
A big community mural with Rebecca and community mural artist, Andy Bolton. Many of the mural design sessions will be in person in the autumn but you can also feed in your ideas online.
You do not have to take part in all or any of these events but if you would like to find out more about any of them, or if you would like an initial chat about the project, it would be great to hear from you.
