A Change in the Climate

By Liz Crow and Ellen Booth

We are excited to be working with creative arts organisation, Roaring Girl Productions (RGP), to encourage diverse audiences to think with, relate to and become involved with the questions raised across the Sensing Climate project.

RGP and lead artist Liz Crow have been developing their creative response with their new project 'A Change in the Climate'.

In this news piece, Liz and producer, Ellen Booth, give a little introduction to the project.

Through a series of small-scale performance actions, Liz will be exploring a range of themes relating to climate change and disability. Working in a range of natural landscapes with natural materials, these actions will be captured through high quality still images and video and complemented by associated writings.

Working with a dedicated team of collaborators including fine art photographer Suzie Larke (https://suzielarke.com/), Black Bark Films (https://www.blackbarkfilms.com/about) and Producer Ellen Booth (https://www.ellenbooth.com/), RGP delivered their first two performance actions this November at Portbury Wharf, Portishead.

This 150-acre nature reserve and salt marsh sits on the edge of the Severn Estuary between Portishead and Royal Portbury Dock. Nestled between housing on one side and industry on the other, it is a crucial green buffer which gives people access to green spaces and ensures a vital haven for wildlife.

The salt marsh provided the perfect backdrop for Liz and the team, who spent two days on location to create the first set of still and moving images works, which will have their inaugural public exhibition as part of DaDa Festival in March 2025.
