In conversation with… Emma Geen

A big thank you to everyone who was able to join our second “In conversation with…” session, to Dr Emma Geen for such a thoughtful discussion, and to Beth Richards for excellent jargon-busting.

Dr Emma Geen is a disabled woman and disability climate activist. She is one of the authors of the just transition declaration for Bristol, which is thought to be the world's first local authority level just transition declaration. Emma sits on Disability Rights UK's climate justice coalition, and represented disabled people on the 2022 US Embassy Climate Justice exchange.

In 2021 to 2022 Emma co-produced the world's first community climate action plan by and for disabled people for the Bristol Disability Equality Forum. In this session, Emma discussed the process of co-producing a disability inclusive climate plan, including the unique challenges, barriers and opportunities such a plan offers the community of disabled people.

We recorded Emma’s talk (but not the open Q&A to ensure people felt comfortable in asking their questions without being recorded). You can listen to that in full in the video at the top of this page.

A Word document containing a transcript of the recording is also available beneath the video.
